April 2025
Our Easter Fun Day was held on Good Friday 18th April. It was an extremely fun day, was well attended and raised much needed funds for the Village Hall.
Following our Chairmans success in gaining a National Lottery Grant the resurfacing on the car park began. This was to totally transform the look of the car park and we gained many more parking spaces. Due to the increase in cost the grant was fully used for this project. Because of this the repair to the leaking back roof was put on temporary hold.
June 2025
The Chair & Treasurer approached the Parish Council with a request for a donation towards the roof repair. They were extremely generous and agreed to fund it all.
July 2025
A gardening evening was held with a talk given by Karl from Willowbridge Nurseries. A question & answer section followed. Around 30 people attended and fully enjoyed this interesting evening. Refreshments were provided by the Village Hall.
August 2025
The repairs to the roof were started and due to the warm weather was completed by the end of August. This now means that the Hall is watertight.
November 2025
Our annual Christmas Fair was held on the 29th November. The weather, unfortunately, was not kind and as a result not as many attended. Despite this a good time was had by all and some £580 was raised.
December 2025
Our traditional Carol Concert was held on the 3rd December. It is very well attended and enjoyed by all. Contributions were given by Catforth Primary School, the Parish Council and all the Churches in the Parish. A lovely evening was finished with tea, coffee mince pies and biscuits kindly donated by the Parish Council. The collection for the R.N.L.I raised £47.00.
For the first time this year we held a Christmas Wreath workshop on the 6th December. This was run by the local nursery Willowbridge. It was very well attended and we all had a great afternoon ending up with fantastic Christmas Wreaths for our front doors. We hope to repeat this event next December.
January 2026
A new hirer started in the Hall called Rhythmtime. This was a class for the under 5s learning dancing and movement. Whilst it was enjoyable the hirer decided that she would finish at Easter as it was not viable due to the low attendance in one class. We are sorry to lose her but we wish her well for the future.
March 2026
As part of the Village Hall wall needed re-pointing several businesses were approached. We agreed on one who has now started the laborious task of doing this job.
April 2026
As the playground was becoming very worn, tired and muddy underfoot in bad weather it was decided it needed replacing. After careful consideration the committee agreed on a specialist provider called Kompan and worked with their designers to get a more up to date and all-weather play area. Our Chair applied for several grants & was successful in obtaining one from Lancashire Environmental Fund for £30k. This left us with a shortfall of almost £39k. Again the Chair & Treasurer approached the Parish Council for funding. As they understand that this is an asset both to the Village Hall and the Village they were extremely generous and agreed to fund the full outstanding amount. We are very grateful to them for their generosity. Work starts on the 13th April. We look forward to seeing this completed and well used by the children of the area.
The Hall continues to be well used by our permanent hirers, Ronnie Rascals DTC Dog Club, Karate, Pilates, Cubs & Scouts & Toddlers.
We have many one-off hires including weddings, children’s birthday parties, baby showers, christenings and group tutorials.
